Powder To Foam Face Wash - Your FAQs

  • 5 min read

Our newest cleanser has landed, and it’s a bit of a different format to anything else in the range. A fine powder that transforms into a soft, gentle foam when you add water. We’ve gathered the questions you’ve been asking ahead of launch and answered them all in one place. Click here to shop!

1. It’s a powder? Will that dry my skin out? And what’s the benefit?

The Powder To Foam Face Wash is soap-free and designed to cleanse without stripping. It uses two mild, skin-friendly surfactants (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate) plus skin-friendly humectants like glycerin, diglycerin and panthenol that help keep skin feeling soft and supported after rinsing.

The benefits of a powder format:

  • It’s concentrated. One bottle delivers up to 200 washes.
  • It’s lightweight and travel friendly. No liquid to leak or count towards your luggage allowance.
  • It activates with water. You decide how much foam or exfoliation you want.

2. How much product should I use?

A little goes a long way. Dispense a small amount (roughly the size of a 5p coin) into wet hands, add a splash of water, work it into a soft foam between your palms, then massage into damp skin and rinse thoroughly.

Top Tip: If you want more foam, add more water before adding more powder.

3. Can I use it twice a day?

Our Powder to Foam Face Wash is designed as a gentle daily cleanser, so it’s suitable for both morning and evening use. If you have sensitive skin, you may not need that level of exfoliation, so using our Cleansing Face Milk in the morning and Powder to Foam Face Wash in the evening might suit you better.

4. Is it good for removing makeup and mascara?

It’s great for a daily cleanse and lifting away SPF, sweat and light makeup. For heavier eye makeup or long-wear mascara, we’d recommend doubling up – use our Cleansing Balm first to make sure everything’s properly lifted, then follow with the Powder To Foam Face Wash for a fresh, balanced finish.

5. What’s the difference between all your cleansers?

We now have five cleansers in our range, and each one has its own benefits:

  • Powder To Foam Face Wash with Upcycled Willow Bark + Papaya Enzymes. Soap-free powder formula that activates with water into a soft foam, made with upcycled willow bark, rice lees, papaya enzymes, and panthenol for a fresh, non-stripping exfoliating cleanse. Best for: mature, normal, combination, oily or congested skin. Introduce slowly to sensitive skin.
  • Cleansing Face Milk with Oat Powder + Aloe Vera. Gentle creamy milk cleanser made with upcycled oat powder, aloe vera and jojoba oil to support the skin’s moisture barrier. Best for: teen, mature, sensitive or reactive skin.
  • Cleansing Face Balm with Vitamin E. Rich balm made with upcycled apricot powder, sea buckthorn, blackcurrant seed and blue tansy oils. Melts into an oil cleanser on dry skin to break down makeup, mascara, SPF and pollution. Best for: removing waterproof makeup, and for dry or dehydrated skin.
  • Cinnamon + Ginger Chai Cleansing Bar. Certified Organic solid soap bar made with upcycled chai spices, pink clay and cinnamon and ginger oils, with glycerin to hydrate. A gentle, energising exfoliant for face and body. Best for: dry or dehydrated skin on the go.
  • Fennel + Cardamom Chai Cleansing Bar. Certified Organic solid soap bar made with upcycled chai spices, green clay, shea butter and cardamom and fennel oils. Green clay helps draw toxins from pores. For face and body. Best for: teen, oily or congested skin on the go.

6. Is it suitable for acne-prone or blemish-prone skin?

It’s designed as a gentle cleanser for skin that wants fresh, balanced feeling after cleansing. It contains upcycled willow bark, a natural alternative to salicylic acid, and papaya enzymes which support a smoother, clearer looking finish. It's a great choice if you're prone to breakouts or congestion and want a clarifying cleanse that's still kind to skin.

7. Is it good for mature skin?

Yes. It’s suitable for all skin types, including mature skin. The formula avoids harsh surfactants and includes skin-conditioning ingredients like panthenol, allantoin, glycerin and upcycled rice lees, all of which help skin feel soothed and soft after rinsing rather than tight or dry.

8. Is it good for menopausal skin?

Yes. Menopausal skin often deals with a lot at once. Hormonal shifts can bring on dryness, dehydration, sensitivity and sometimes hormonal breakouts, and the Powder To Foam Face Wash works hard to address all these concerns. The soap-free, non-stripping formula keeps skin feeling soft and soothed thanks to conditioning ingredients like glycerin, panthenol, allantoin and upcycled rice lees, while the willow bark and papaya enzymes support clearer, smoother skin. If you need an extra hydration boost, pair it with our Cleansing Face Balm in a 2-step cleanse. The balm is rich in fatty acids from sea buckthorn and blackcurrant seed oils, which support skin elasticity and leave skin feeling nourished. Together they make a dream double cleanse for skin that needs a little extra TLC.

9. What age is it suitable from?

We’re recommending the Powder To Foam Face Wash for adult skin. The willow bark and papaya enzymes offer gentle exfoliating action - which younger skin doesn’t need. For teens, our Cleansing Face Milk with Oat Powder + Aloe Vera is a gentle option - even suitable for use on babies and children!

10. Is it safe to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Our Powder To Foam Face Wash is formulated with gentle, skin-friendly ingredients. The formula doesn't include any of the ingredients typically avoided during pregnancy or breastfeeding, like retinoids or essential oils (some of which can be advised against). That said, we'd always recommend checking with your doctor or midwife before adding a new product to your routine.

11. Is it dermatologically approved?

Not yet, but it’s on our list! We’re working on getting the Powder To Foam Face Wash dermatologically tested, so watch this space. In the meantime, the formula has been built with gentle, skin-friendly ingredients.

12. Where should I use it?

Store it somewhere dry and out of direct steam, ideally on a bathroom shelf or in a cabinet. Because the formula activates with water, we'd avoid using it in the shower or storing right next to the sink, as moisture in the bottle can affect the powder over time. Stored properly, it has a 24 month PAO (period after opening), so you've got plenty of time to use every last drop.

13. Why is it made in South Korea?

South Korea is a global leader in skincare and has spent decades refining manufacturing practise, ingredients and formulations. Working with a specialist manufacturer gives us access to the formulation expertise needed to deliver the texture and finish that your skin will love, alongside support on sourcing some of our upcycled ingredients locally.

14. Will there be refills?

We’ve found a biodegradable and compostable material for the refills, but the MOQ is 50,000 units. It’s also very expensive to produce, and as you can imagine that’s a significant investment for a new launch! We have the packaging lined up and really want it to happen. So if this cleanser flies out like we think it will… watch this space for refills coming soon(ish).

15. When is it back in stock?

What a launch! Drop 1 saw 3,500 bottles fly off the shelf, and we're blown away by the response. Thank you for the support! Drop 2 is expected in July/August. We don't have an exact date yet, but we'll shout about it loud and clear as soon as we're closer to restocking. To be first in line, sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Instagram.
